Moots SingleSpeed PsychloX in Adelaide

We asked the delighted owner of this truly custom creation to share his views on his pride and joy.

“This is my Moots Psycho-X singlespeed cyclocross bike. The bike is stunning looking, built-up from carefully selected top quality components inlcuding Chris King headset, Edge carbon cyclocross forks, Moots stem and setback seatpost.

TRP EuroX canti brakes match the white and red colour scheme and are blessedly free of chatter with surprising stopping power for canti brakes in my experience. These are matched to some Campy Record levers.  A Selle Italia SLR gelflow XC saddle takes care of offroad duties, as does the Salsa Bell Lap drop bars.

The drivetrain is all White Industries Eno, with a Phil Wood BB, matched to magnificent White Industries black hubs and singlespeed freewheel. Mavic open pro rims with Challenge Grifo XS tyres will take the usual punishment without complaint in Australia’s dry conditions.

The ride is literally surreal. I can only describe it as akin to the feeling you get riding a normal carbon road bike from standard blacktop onto some freshly laid dead smooth bitumen; that effortless gliding feeling. The Moots frame delivers this at all times, not just occasionally.

I was able to custom order the frame to suit with a higher headtube and a lower bottom bracket, and I must say after a few hours the bike just feels like an extension of my body. The bike even came with a spare dropout to hang a derailleur and appropriate cable routing to cover every future eventuality. I have used it for racing, touring, as well as substituting for my XC MTB or road bike on occasions – all it accomplishes with ease.

This is one very special bike.”

While the “RIDE” test bike has been sold, we currently have  a MOOTS 53 PsychloX frameset with King headset and Edge fork in store.
